About the recent lecture "The History of University Education at the Turn of the 19th and 20th Centuries"
On November 12, the library held a popular science lecture, “The History of University Education at the Turn of the 19th and 20th Centuries.” Lecturer - Marina Nikolaevna Wolf, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Department of the History of Philosophy at the Institute of Physical Problems of NSU spoke about education "for the people", which was based on the "Home Reading Programs", published at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Not only in Russia, but also in other countries during this period, education became accessible to the poor segments of the population. "Home reading programs" were lists of literature with homework assignments that the student independently completed and sent by mail to a committee of university professors for review. Для завершения обучения требовалось четыре года, документ об образовании не выдавался. A significant portion of the lecture was devoted to the role of political and public figures in the development of public education. Publications by N.I. Kareev, P.N. Milyukov, V.I. Lenin, L.N. Tolstoy, and others were presented at the book exhibition After the lecture, first-year students from the philosophy department took the opportunity to personally ask the lecturer a question.
