The Library Support Services Department provides library-informational support to the educational process and for academic-pedagogical and scientific research activities at the University.
The Department’s primary functions:
• full and operational library-bibliographic services for users corresponding to their information needs;
• oversee the Department’s catalog to support NSU departments curricula and programs;
• ensure the safety of the Library’s book catalog;
• provide training on information services;
• maintain the Department’s reference desk;
• introduce new technologies in the work of the Department.
Department staff serve all categories of library users. Users have access to educational and academic materials and a 200 seat reading room.
There is a coworking space in the reading room for work on individual and group projects, study, and creative meetings.
For many years, the Library Support Services Department oversees the distribution of educational materials to first-year students in all University departments by the start of the academic year. Top specialists in the Department organize and coordinate this work.
Since 2009, all user services are available in a modern digital system for distribution, the automated library information system (ALIS) “Ruslan”. This fundamentally changed the technology for serving users who immediately responded positively to the new system.
Thanks to the 2018 NSU Library transition to the new generation of ALIS “Ruslan-Neo”, University users can:
• access the digital catalog via the Internet, search for the necessary material, and receive information about the number and location of available copies,
• order materials via the Internet and monitor the fulfillment of their requests,
• view their digital logs
• receive overdue messages via e-mail or SMS messages.
