REFERENCE AND INFORMATION SERVICE DEPARTMENT

The Information-Bibliographic Department provides users with a wide range of information services and organizes access to digital databases. Here you can get the answer to any question.

Department staff conduct classes on the basics of information and bibliographic sources for students at all NSU departments.

The Department’s subsidiary catalog has more than 15,000 units. In the Information-Bibliographic Department’s small reading room, the user can work with the best domestic reference materials, numerous encyclopedias and encyclopedic dictionaries including linguistic, explanatory, and terminological. In addition to the latest materials, there are such well-known publications as the "Encyclopedic Dictionary" by F.A. Brockhaus and I.A. Efron, "Big Encyclopedia" edited by S.N. Yuzhakova and Prof. P.N. Milyukova. Relatively rare editions include Soviet Encyclopedias from the 1920s and 1930s.

The small reading room contains collections of official documents, universal current and retrospective bibliographic and informational publications, publications on natural and social sciences and the humanities, current and retrospective bibliographic indexes, and consolidated catalogs of books and periodicals. The Department stores dissertations presented to NSU dissertation councils.

The Department provides the user with an opportunity to work with the Library’s digital catalog as well as with abstract and full-text databases and other information resources. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays there are weekly presentations of new library acquisitions of periodicals and other materials.
