Visiting the new scientific library of NSU: how we met colleagues on the eve of Librarian Day
We decided to start celebrating Librarian's Day in a new format - by welcoming guests. And it looks like we had a great holiday!
On May 20, the building of continuous classrooms with a Scientific Library and a design center opened its doors to guests (Pirogov St., 3). On the eve of a professional holiday, we invited our colleagues to see our new abode, the one where it smells of books, technology and big ideas. And they responded!
Keepers of knowledge from leading universities and institutes of Novosibirsk came to us: NSPU, SGUPS, NGASU (Sibstrin), SSUGiT, NSUEU (Narkhoz), NSTU-NETI, Siberian Institute of Management (RANEPA).
The head of the library, Tatyana Gennadievna Markova, gave a very informative excursion for the invited guests. The modern library has spacious, bright rooms with panoramic windows, “white stone” a spiral staircase, a lot of comfortable bright furniture, compact metal shelving with electric drive, silent fast elevators and much more.
Together we:
❑ took a tour of the modern library - showed the most interesting things, answered many questions;
❑ shared memories of the epic called “moving” — It wasn’t easy, but we did it;
❑ visited the updated departments of the library: Department for the Development of Automated Library Technologies, Information and Bibliographic Department, Acquisition and Cataloging Department, Subscription and Reading Room;
❑ went down to our new spacious book depository with modern automated sliding shelving;
❑ tested the operation of self-service stations;
❑ shared professional plans and inspiration;
❑ they arranged a sweet treat (librarians know a lot about tea and cakes), and over tea they shared their experiences and common problems;
❑ and when the weather allowed — colleagues went for a short walk around the NSU campus.
Special thanks to our dear guests. Thank you for sharing this day with us! We look forward to meeting you again within the walls of our library.
