Our library is among the speakers of the Regional Methodological Association of University Libraries!

On April 28, we took part in the work of the service section at the Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management.

The main topic of the meeting, relevant for every modern library, — “Communication strategy of a university library: positioning and attracting readers.”

The speech of the head of the Service Department of our library, Elena Budantseva ("University library: necessity or third place?") evoked a lively response. The speaker suggested looking at the university library differently: not as a “necessity,” but as a third place (sociological concept of Ray Oldenburg) — a territory of culture, recreation and live communication, where you want to come even without a strict educational task. And yes — completely free! Leisure activities of the library – an alternative to expensive holidays in other cultural institutions.

We also shared our experience of holding exciting events and told why the universalization of library specialists is so important today. We share our best practices and learn from our colleagues — because a good library is always on the move.

We are convinced that the main thing in our work is not only books, but also people and atmosphere. And also — continuous development.
