Russian New Year

Despite the fact that the New Year has already passed, we continue to be in a festive atmosphere among the illuminations, various attributes and gifts received. Well, for the library it is also memories of its participation in holding a New Year’s party for the Russian Conversation Club of NSU. At the meeting on December 21, club participants got acquainted with the traditions of celebrating the New Year in our country. Teachers from the Center for International Educational Programs of the Nizhny Novgorod State University prepared a fun quiz and tea party, at which they presented the guests with traditional dishes for this occasion - herring “under a fur coat” and and jellied meat, which all the guests really liked. The library has prepared a collection of Soviet New Year's cards, a selection of books about this holiday in Russia and other countries, as well as a master class on cutting out snowflakes and making paper garland chains. In a friendly conversation, the organizers shared childhood memories and were interested in how the New Year’s celebration was going in the countries where the children came from, which were Uzbekistan, China, Sudan, Panama and Canada.

An unexpected performance for the guests of the conversation club and the highlight of the evening was a mini-concert presented by the choir group “RovnoV7”, in which the bibliographer of the fiction department Anna Akberdina performed. he artists performed the song "Snowflake" and "Jingle Bells" in Russian.

It turned out to be a great holiday with immersion in the Russian cultural tradition of celebrating the New Year.

In January, on Tatiana Day and Students' Day, we are waiting for the guys to make a return visit to the library.
