About the last lecture “The Magi Kings and Their Gifts: A Christmas Story”
On December 25, a fabulous atmosphere reigned in the Scientific Library of NSU. At the lecture “The Magi Kings and Their Gifts: A Christmas Story” Both regular listeners and guests who came for the first time gathered. Doctor of Philosophy Marina Nikolaevna Wolf revealed fascinating details of the famous biblical story, spoke about the possible origin of the three wise men who came to worship the baby Jesus, and about their future fate. The lecturer dwelled in more detail on how ideas about the appearance and age of the Magi changed over time, and how this was reflected in the visual arts. Those present received answers to such interesting questions as: What did the names of the wandering sages mean? What symbolism did their gifts contain? What was the guiding star of Bethlehem? With each new detail, the familiar Christmas story was revealed more and more deeply.
An elegantly decorated themed book exhibition helped create a festive mood. And the meeting ended with a traditional tea party, accompanied by leisurely conversation and lively discussion.
